SDG&E Out of Control

 So some home-owners in my home town are seeing bills as high as $700 this month. I've heard San Diego has the highest prices in the country right now.

Seems like now would be a good time to re-do that ROI calculation.

The typical 3 bedroom house around here has 10 panels. They can't cost that much - right? Let's say $250 for a 400 watt model  - ten of those for $2500.

I'm hearing the biggest cost is the installation. I'm not a DIY-er but I am an engineer. I could probably hire labor and supervise the job - say another $2500 max? 

I'm at $5K. If my current SDG&E bill is $150 I'm at 33 months or say 3 years.

Full disclosure this was completely "back of the envelope" numbers. It give me a rough idea though.
